George Mason University exhibited at the CES Trade Show for the first time from January 6–9, 2026.

CES® is the world’s most influential technology event and a global proving ground for breakthrough innovations. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, CES is the only trade show that showcases the entire technology landscape in one place—bringing together manufacturers, developers, and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content, delivery systems, and more. The event also features a robust conference program where the world’s business leaders and pioneering thinkers explore the most pressing issues shaping the industry.

At CES 2026, Mason’s booth featured NVTC’s Techtopia displayed as an immersive 3D experience, demonstrating why Northern Virginia is a leading global technology hub distinguished by exceptional innovation and talent. Tan Chau, took the lead on the modeling and design process—carefully conceptualizing, iterating, and producing more than 50 detailed buildings that collectively define the Techtopia map. All buildings were printed at the MIX through months of dedicated work. The booth proved to be a success, marking the first participation of Virginia’s largest public university at CES and placing the MIX on the global stage.

Thanks to the MIX Program and Operations Coordinator, Minjin Batzorig, for the coordination, and MIX Staff Associate Tan Chau for his crucial work on this project. A special thanks to Paula Sorrell, Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) , Fairfax County Economic Development Authority , Fairfax City Economic Development , Nova Development Alliance, and President Gregory Washington for entrusting this symbolic opportunity to the MIX.
