Laser Cutter and Engraver
The MIX Fabrication Lab houses two BOSSLASER laser cutter machines.
Boss Laser 1420:
Cutting area: 14” x 20”
60 watt laser
Boss Laser 2440:
Cutting Area: 24” x 40”
105 watt laser

Get Started Laser Cutting:

2 Laser Cutters are available for cutting and engraving a wide variety of materials. The laser cutters can cut wood, acrylic, cardboard, leather, Depron foam, and a variety of other materials.
Additionally, they can engrave slate, Corian, and glass. For more information, come by the MIX and ask a staff member.

A laser cutting and engraving orientation class is offered, which covers frequently asked questions such as: acceptable materials, compatible file types, and demonstration. The orientation class is not required- you are welcome to come to the Fabrication Lab during open laser cutting hours and a MIX staff member will assist you.

The MIX provides a dedicated computer with LightBurn software to use with the laser cutters.
Acceptable file types are:
PNG, JPG, PDF, AI, SVG, DXF
Laser Cutting is performed under supervision of MIX Staff during Fabrication Lab open hours. Please bring your file with you and a staff member will help you cut your project.
