MIX Welding with SOA in Spring 2026

A new semester of one-hour Welding Workshops as well as limited two-hour Welding Open Hours with the MIX is underway at a satellite location in the School of Art Building L006 this Spring 2026 with the help of Assistant Professor in Sculpture & Expanded Fields, Brian Davis.

Listed Welding Workshops and Open Hours Sessions can be found via Mason360 where anyone with a Mason ID can register and attend. Welding Open Hours on select Monday’s this Spring ‘26 can only be accessed after successfully completing the Welding Workshop. Currently the Workshops and Open Hours are set to alternate on Mondays, with the Workshops one week and Open Hours access the following week, barring the week of Spring Recess (Monday, March 9th).

In the workshop students will learn about welding safety, practice, and techniques, how to source material, as well as gain hands on practice using the Miller welders. The workshops are free to Mason community members and materials are provided, however, during open hours attendees are expected to bring your own materials or purchase them from the sculpture studio.
