Fall 2025 Autonomous Robotics & Sensor Integration Short Course Final
The MIX celebrated the completion of the Fall 2025 Autonomous Robotics and Sensor Integration Badged Short Course with an exciting final event on Wednesday, November 19th (4:30–6:30 PM). Eleven student teams—each made up of two members—presented their real-world robotics application projects before taking on a three-stage arena challenge that tested precision, strategy, and robust sensor integration.
Teams were tasked with:
Line Following – navigating a guided path with accuracy
Object Seeking – locating and popping a target balloon
Light Seeking & Obstacle Avoidance – moving toward a light source while steering clear of barriers
A distinguished panel of judges—Dr. Missy Cummings (GMU Robotics & HCI, Director of MARC), Dr. Pelin Kurtay (ECE), and Dr. Cameron Nowzari (ECE)—evaluated performance and provided valuable feedback to the students.
Winning Teams:
1st Place – Team Riverbed: Thomas Ichirose & Brian Yu
2nd Place – Team Robovent: Rishi & Khanh
3rd Place – Team Lawn Mower: Adam Ahmadi & Yahir Torrez
Congratulations to all teams for their impressive work, creativity, and technical skill throughout the course!
