Celebrating the First Robotics Showcase

Robotics in Action: Spring 2025 Robotics Short Course Final Presentations at the MIX

This spring, the MIX celebrated the launch of the first microcredentialed Robotics short course, an extension of the concurrently running Robot Night. Hossein Ghaffari-Nik teaches both Robot Night and the Robotics short course.

For 9 weeks, participants explored core principles in robotics, delving into microcontrollers, mechanical design, sensor integration, and autonomous programming. The final presentations displayed a series of robots assembled by students using a kit. Students showcased their final prototypes before an audience of peers and faculty. The event not only highlighted technical skill development, but also the collaborative spirit that defines innovation at the MIX. These final presentations are a testament to what’s possible when curiosity, engineering, and creativity come together in a makerspace environment.

As we reflect on this semester’s Robotics Short Course, we celebrate the students who brought their ideas to life—proving once again that the future of robotics is already in the making right here at George Mason University.
